Vegan m♥lk chocolate without milk

Vegan milk chocolate. Is that even possible? Does it taste nice? And how does it work?

Normal milk chocolate consists of four simple ingredients: Sugar, milk powder, cacao butter and cacao mass. In that order. 

We want to protect the planet by being exclusively vegan and are convinced that you don’t need cow milk to make a delicious milder chocolate. Our newest solution? Rice milk. Although of course we need to call it rice drink now. The European Parliament voted in favour of amendment 171, in which claims such as "Does not contain milk" or "Milk alternative" would not be allowed anymore. It seems that the dairy industry is convinced that consumers are unable to distinguish between products on which "milk" and "no milk" can be found. Should this law actually be implemented, it would no longer be allowed to communicate the difference in climate footprint between plant-based and dairy products. Pretty silly, isn't it? Which is what Oatly for example seems to think, too, as they are currently campaigning against such a law with their "Are you stupid? The milk lobby thinks you are" advertising.

So that's why you will find “rice drink powder” in the ingredient list of our new Vegan M♥lk (called “Mild” in Germany) chocolate bars although you probably know it as rice milk. 😉

But what is rice milk?

As the name suggests, rice drink is made by mixing mostly brown rice with water. It is free of saturated fats and cholesterol. And the best, it's the least allergenic of the milk alternatives. Since rice milk is naturally sweeter than other milk alternatives, it is perfect for making our milder raw chocolates for all those people that find our really dark chocolates a bit too much.

Important to note: While rice drinks can sometimes be fortified artificially with ingredients such as calcium, vitamin A, or vitamin D, the rice drink we use is kept pure and is made with nothing but organic rice, a little bit of organic sunflower oil and salt.

We combine the magical power of pure raw cacao and superfoods such as lucuma, matcha or yacon with vegan rice drink to create a wonderfully mild chocolate. Lovechock Vegan M♥lk bars are deliciously different and Pure Goodness for all those who value conscious eating.

Dates & Nuts

Vegan M♥lk raw chocolate with nut crunch and lovely notes of caramel from dates and yacon. Yacon is a root from the Andes region and known for being rich in fibres. When dried, it has a sweet caramel-like taste. Besides being super delicious, this chocolate bar is also high in iron and a natural source of magnesium and potassium.
